Typed & Kept is a Chrome extension with two features: it autosaves what you type into web forms so you can restore it after a crash, closed tab, or expired session, and it keeps a local record of order-confirmation pages — captured automatically or saved by hand.
This policy describes what the extension does with data, in plain language.
What is stored, and where
Typed & Kept stores the following in chrome.storage.local — a storage area built into Chrome that belongs to this browser profile on this computer, not a server anywhere:
- Drafts — the text of fields you're typing into (inputs, text areas, editable regions), tied to the page's address and the field, so a reload can offer it back to you.
- Receipts — merchant name, order or confirmation number, total, date, and a text snapshot of order-confirmation pages, captured automatically or saved manually.
- Settings — retention length, the incognito toggle, your personal site blocklist, which sites you've paused Typed & Kept on, and display preferences.
- License key — if you buy the Pro upgrade, the key you paste in, and whether it's currently valid.
That's all of it. No separate account, email, or name is collected to use the extension.
What is never stored
Typed & Kept is built to skip certain fields entirely — it never reads, saves, or logs their values:
- Password fields, and any field inside a form it recognizes as a login form
- Credit/debit card number, CVV/CVC, bank account and routing numbers, IBAN/SWIFT
- Social Security number, tax ID, passport number, driver's license number
- PINs, one-time codes, two-factor / verification codes
- Any field whose name, label, or placeholder text matches those categories
On top of that field-level exclusion, Typed & Kept does not autosave or automatically capture receipts on a built-in list of bank, brokerage, payment, tax, and password-manager websites, nor on any site you pause it on or add to your own blocklist. The one exception is a receipt you save by hand from the popup, because that is you asking. The extension's Options page lists your own blocklist and the sites you've paused, and lets you remove them; the built-in list is not shown there. See store/PERMISSIONS.md in the project for the built-in list and the exact matching rules.
How long data is kept
- Free: drafts are kept for 7 days, then automatically deleted; up to 20 receipts are kept.
- Pro: you choose the retention period for drafts — 7, 30, 90, or 365 days, or forever — and receipts are unlimited.
- You can delete every draft and receipt Typed & Kept has stored at any time with the toolbar popup's "Delete everything stored" button (your settings and any Pro license are kept), clear just the drafts with "Clear all", or delete a single draft or receipt from the same popup.
- Uninstalling the extension removes all of its stored data along with it.
The one network call this extension makes
Typed & Kept works fully offline. The single exception is license validation for the paid Pro upgrade ($9 one-time, sold through Polar - no subscription): when you paste a license key and confirm it, and again roughly every 3 days while Pro stays active, the extension sends only your license key and the extension's public Polar organization id to Polar's license-validation API. Nothing else — not a draft, not a receipt, not anything you typed — is ever included in that request or any other request this extension makes. If you never buy Pro, this call never happens.
No analytics, no tracking, no sale, no sharing
- No analytics software, crash reporting, or usage tracking of any kind.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no cookies set by this extension.
- Nothing is sold. Nothing is shared with advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
- No Typed & Kept server exists to send data to, besides the Polar license check above.
How to delete everything
Two ways:
- Open the toolbar popup and press "Delete everything stored" (it asks for a second click to confirm) to erase every draft and receipt while keeping the extension installed. Your settings and any Pro license are kept so you do not have to set them up again; the uninstall below removes those too.
- Uninstall Typed & Kept from
chrome://extensions— Chrome removes its stored data as part of removing the extension.
Children
Typed & Kept is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
